Job summary

Southern Land is seeking an intermediate civil engineer to join our Wanaka team. You will own design packages for land development, including earthworks, three waters, and roading, while coordinating with clients and senior engineers.

You will deliver across consenting, design, tendering, construction and titles, with site inspections and QA contributing to robust outcomes. A growth-focused path toward CPEng is encouraged.

Qualifications

• A degree or diploma in civil engineering (e.g., BE (Hons), BEngTech (Civil) or NZDE (Civil).
• 3–6 years in civil engineering, ideally in land development.
• Solid understanding of three waters, earthworks and roading design; experience with 12d.
• Familiarity with hydraulic modelling tools (e.g., HEC-RAS, EPANET) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver detailed civil designs for land development projects (earthworks, three waters, roading).
• Support project delivery through consenting, design, tendering, construction and titles; own design packages.
• Carry out site inspections during construction to verify design intent and specs.
• Assist in preparing tender and contract documents, quantities and estimates.
• Assist with administration of NZS3910 construction contracts.
• Coordinate with clients, councils, contractors and other consultants under senior guidance.
• Learn from senior engineers and mentor graduates and technicians as you grow.
• Contribute to quality assurance by ensuring drawings, models and documents are accurate.
