Job description

Supportive Culture | Varied Projects | Clear Development Path

You’ve got a few years under your belt — now you’re ready for more.
This role is designed for an intermediate civil engineer who wants to grow; technically, professionally, and personally. You’ll be part of our Christchurch team, contributing to meaningful projects across the country and taking ownership of your work from day one.

At Riley, we’re big on practical solutions and even bigger on backing our people. If you’re looking for variety, mentorship, and the chance to shape your own career, this is a great time to come on board.

Why this role, and why now?
  • Our Christchurch office is growing, and you’ll be stepping into a team that’s busy, collaborative, and hungry for fresh thinking.
  • You’ll work across all phases of project delivery, not just the design desk.

  • There’s genuine flexibility in how your career progresses; whether that’s technical expertise, delivery leadership, or people management.

  • Riley’s ownership model means your voice carries weight, and your long-term future is something we want to invest in.

What you’ll get:
  • Diverse projects across infrastructure, energy, land development and more

  • The chance to take ownership and grow at your pace

  • Paid overtime for the extra effort

  • Annual wellbeing allowance + regular development check-ins

  • Hybrid working and flexible hours

  • Shareholding opportunities if that’s your goal

What we’re looking for:
  • 3–5 years’ civil engineering experience in consultancy (ideally land development / 3 waters)

  • Comfortable working on site and engaging with contractors

  • A great communicator who wants to learn and lead

  • NZ experience preferred but not essential

If you're ready to take that next step with a team that supports your growth and shares your values, then we’d love to hear from you.
