Job summary

Extrastaff, a Labour Hire Company, is hiring full-time Construction Specialists. Roles are nationwide across New Zealand with site locations based on project demand.

PPE and tools are provided, and workers will read drawings, construct and finish framework and structures on major infrastructure projects. We seek organised, trustworthy individuals with 2 years in construction or a Level 4 qualification, plus a NZ driver’s licence and a safety-focused mindset.

Qualifications

• 2-year construction experience or Level 4 qualification is required.
• NZ driver licence or overseas equivalent required.
• Able to work independently and adapt to new environments.
• Experience on commercial, infrastructure, or civil projects preferred.
• Sound knowledge of H&S procedures and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Construct, install and repair framing, cladding, and finishing work across foundations, walls, floors, roofs and ceilings.
• Install doors, windows, cladding, insulation, and finishing elements.
• Construct concrete formwork and assist pouring concrete as needed.
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding and access equipment following safety standards.
• Transport materials and equipment around sites.
• Work on rotating project sites across the country.
• Carry out other duties to support projects and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Construct, install and repair framework and structures, formwork, framing, cladding and finishing work, including foundation, walls, floors, roofs and ceilings
• Cut materials, assemble and Install doors, windows, cladding, insulation, linings, and finishing elements
• Construct concrete formwork, create metal and wood structures forms or chutes by using fasteners, rod bending machines or hand tools, and assist in pouring concrete if required
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding and access equipment for assembling structures above ground level, in accordance with safety standards
• Cover subfloors with building paper to keep out moisture and lay hardwood, parquet, or wood strip block floors by nailing floors to subfloor or cementing them to mastic or asphalt base
• Repair and maintain existing fittings
• Loading and unloading building and construction materials, tools and equipment and transporting them around sites
• Work on rotating project sites across the country
• Carry out any other reasonable duties as directed by the employer to support project and business objectives.

Skills and experience required

• 2-year experience in the construction industry or Level 4 relevant qualification
• NZ Driver license or overseas equivalent is required
• Able to work independently and adapt to new environments
• Experience working on commercial, infrastructure, or civil construction projects preferred.
• Sound knowledge of H\u0027S procedures
• Understanding of and commitment to workplace health, safety, and quality standards.

• North Island: Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawke's Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu-Whanganui, Wellington.
• South Island: Tasman, Nelson, Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury, Otago, Southland.
