Job summary

Extrastaff, a LabourHire Company, is hiring full-time Construction Specialists. You will read drawings, construct and install framing, cladding and finishing work across projects.

Roles are based nationwide with site locations driven by project demand; travel across regions is required. NZ driver license and 2 years construction experience or Level 4 qualification preferred. PPE and tools provided.

Qualifications

• 2 years construction experience or Level 4 qualification
• NZ driver license or overseas equivalent
• Ability to work independently and adapt to new environments
• Experience on commercial, infrastructure, or civil projects preferred
• Solid knowledge of health and safety procedures
• Commitment to workplace health, safety and quality standards

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret construction drawings and specs.
• Construct, install and repair framework and structures, formwork, framing, cladding and finishing work incl. foundations, walls, floors, roofs and ceilings.
• Cut materials, assemble and install doors, windows, cladding, insulation, linings and finishing elements.
• Construct concrete formwork and assist in pouring concrete if required.
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding and access equipment per safety standards.
• Cover subfloors with building paper and lay flooring.
• Repair and maintain existing fittings.
• Load/unload materials and move around sites.
• Work on rotating project sites across the country.
• Carry out any other duties to support project and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Construct, install and repairframework and structures, formwork, framing, cladding and finishing work, including foundation, walls, floors, roofs and ceilings
• Cut materials, assemble andInstall doors, windows, cladding, insulation, linings, and finishing elements
• Construct concrete formwork, createmetal and woodstructures forms or chutesby using fasteners, rod bending machines or hand tools,and assist inpouring concrete if required
• Erectand dismantlescaffoldingand access equipment for assembling structures above ground level, in accordance with safety standards
• Cover subfloors with building paper to keep out moisture and lay hardwood, parquet, or wood strip block floors by nailing floors to subfloor or cementing them to mastic or asphalt base
• Repair and maintainexisting fittings
• Loading and unloading building and construction materials, tools and equipment and transporting them around sites
• Work on rotating project sites across the country
• Carry out any other reasonable duties as directed by the employer to support project and business objectives.

Skills and experience required

• 2-year experience in the construction industry or Level 4 relevant qualification
• NZ Driver license or overseas equivalent is required
• Able to work independently and adapt to new environments
• Experience working on commercial, infrastructure, or civil construction projects preferred.
• Sound knowledge of H&S procedures
• Understanding of and commitment to workplace health, safety, and quality standards.
