Job summary

New Zealand Police in Wellington is seeking an Intelligence Analyst to join the Wellington District Intelligence Unit. You will help ensure decision-makers receive timely intelligence to keep communities safer, using analytical tools and concise reporting.

You will present findings in written reports and briefings, build relationships across agencies, and adapt to fast-paced policing priorities. The role requires resilience, initiative, and the ability to work under pressure, with on-site work

Qualifications

  • Ability to apply intelligence practices in a policing context.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Able to work unsupervised and under pressure.
  • Able to meet short deadlines.
  • Hold a full NZ driver's license.
  • NZ citizen or NZ Permanent Resident, or Australian citizen.
  • On-site work at Wellington Central Police Station.
  • Tertiary qualification not required; prior experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify emerging or escalating trends in crime issues.
  • Apply analytical techniques to interpret information for intelligence analysis and propose effective solutions.
  • Develop high-quality written reports and provide clear verbal briefings to diverse audiences.
  • Collaborate on group analysis and projects.
  • Manage competing priorities and tight timeframes.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Reflect Te Tiriti o Waitangi in intelligence products.
