Job summary

WorkSafe New Zealand | Mahi Haumaru Aotearoa is seeking an Intelligence Analyst, Regional, to provide operational regulatory intelligence supporting frontline inspectorate activity within your region. You will analyse data from various sources, identify emerging risks, and translate findings into clear intelligence products for inspectors and leaders.

You will work with inspectors and regulatory teams to ensure evidence-based, targeted regulatory actions, while developing reports and dashboards

Qualifications

  • Analyses operational data to identify regional risks and emerging trends.
  • Develop intelligence products that support regulatory targeting and prioritisation.
  • Translate complex findings into practical, actionable intelligence.
  • Experience in an intelligence, regulatory, or public sector environment is desirable.
  • A relevant qualification, or progress towards one, in intelligence analysis or a related analytical discipline is advantageous.

  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience in an intelligence, regulatory, or public sector environment is desirable.
  • A relevant qualification, or progress towards one, in intelligence analysis or a related analytical discipline is advantageous.

Enterprise Planning and Implementation is a new group established at WorkSafe to strengthen planning, coordination, and implementation across the organisation, particularly to improve how work is prioritised, sequenced, and supported through to delivery.

The Regulatory Intelligence team plays a critical role in helping WorkSafe make informed regulatory decisions that improve health and safety outcomes across Aotearoa. Working closely with frontline inspectors and operational leaders, the team transforms data, information, and operational insights into intelligence products and actionable insights that support targeting, prioritisation, and regulatory action.

About the role / Ō te tūranga

As an Intelligence Analyst, Regional, you'll provide operational regulatory intelligence that supports frontline inspectorate activity within your region. You'll analyse data and information from a range of sources, identify emerging risks and trends, and translate your findings into clear intelligence products that help inspectors and operational leaders target their efforts where they can have the greatest impact.

Working closely with inspectors and regulatory teams, you'll help ensure WorkSafe's regulatory activities are evidence-based, targeted, and responsive to changing risks and priorities.

Salary range / Awhe utu

As part of our remuneration framework, the full salary range for this role is $83,137-$108,442. (KiwiSaver/SSRSS employer contributions are additional). From 1 April 2026 our KiwiSaver employer contribution increased to 3.5%.
