Job summary

Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora - Southern in Porirua seeks a Mental Health Support Worker for the Intellectual Disability Secure Service (RIDSS/NIDSS). This permanent, full-time role involves providing active client support within a multidisciplinary team, engaging in therapeutic activities, and following treatment plans under a registered nurse’s guidance.

The service covers regional and national ID secure care, with a focus on privacy, safety and culturally responsive care.

Qualifications

• NZQA level 4 or higher certificate or willingness to work towards this qualification.
• Interest in RIDSS Model of Care with Positive Behaviour Support framework.
• Ability to follow treatment plans and work with a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to work cohesively as part of a unit/team.
• Full NZ Driver's Licence and ability to pass a Police check.

Responsibilities

• Provide active support for clients in RIDSS/NIDSS in Porirua.
• Engage clients in therapeutic, vocational and quality‑of‑life activities.
• Work under the delegation of a registered nurse, ensuring safety and ethics.
