Job summary

Westpac New Zealand Limited is seeking an experienced Integration Engineer to design, build, and evolve secure, resilient, and scalable integration solutions that support critical banking services.

You will collaborate with architects, engineers, security teams, and business stakeholders to deliver enterprise-grade API and messaging platforms, implement API-led connectivity, and ensure reliable, compliant production deployments.

Qualifications

  • Experience with API management platforms and integration broker technologies.
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures and API-led connectivity.

  • Partner with architects, engineers, security, and business stakeholders to deliver API and integration platforms.
  • Support platform migrations and production deployments with minimal business disruption.

An an experienced Integration Engineer, you will help design, build, and evolve secure, resilient, and scalable integration solutions that support critical banking services. This is an opportunity to work across a complex technology landscape, partnering with architects, engineers, security teams, and business stakeholders to deliver enterprise-grade API and integration solutions that improve reliability, customer outcomes, and operational efficiency.

  • Strong experience designing and delivering enterprise integration solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with API management platforms such as: IBM API Connect DataPower ESB
  • Experience with integration and messaging technologies including: IBM MQ IBM Integration Bus / ACE
  • Event-driven and publish-subscribe architectures
  • Knowledge of integration patterns including API-led connectivity, SOA, microservices, and event-driven architecture.
  • Experience with cloud-native technologies, containers, and automation tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
  • Understanding of security controls including OAuth2, JWT, mTLS, SAML, and enterprise authentication models.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, or equivalent.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex integration and platform issues across distributed environments.
  • Experience delivering platform migrations and production implementations with minimal business disruption.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC, DevOps, release management, and operational support practices.
  • Ability to balance technical detail with business outcomes when engaging stakeholders.
