Job summary

Ventia is seeking skilled Communication Technicians – Inside Plant to support critical infrastructure across the power network in New Zealand. The role focuses on low voltage power systems and communications equipment within controlled environments.

You will install, commission, test, and maintain communications and power systems that support essential network operations, with opportunities to grow within a leading infrastructure services provider across Australia and New Zealand.

Qualifications

• Experience in installation and commissioning of low-voltage power systems.
• Knowledge of battery testing procedures.
• Exposure to telecommunications and protected environments.
• Hands-on fibre splicing and installation work.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Install and commission low-voltage DC power systems, including battery testing and maintenance.
• Deploy and commission transmission systems (OTN, MPLS, SDH, PDH).
• Test and commission inside plant communications equipment.
• Troubleshoot faults across communications and DC power systems.
• Install, splice, and terminate copper and fibre optic cabling.
• Interpret and update technical drawings, diagrams, and schematics.
