Ventia is seeking an Inside Plant Technician to support critical infrastructure across the power network. You will install, commission, test and maintain low-voltage power and communications systems in controlled environments, contributing to reliable network operations.

The role emphasizes safety, hands-on fibre splicing, and collaboration across teams. You’ll bring experience with low voltage power plant installation and battery testing, plus comfort with fibre splicing and cabling.

Qualifications

• Experience with low voltage power plant installation and commissioning.
• Knowledge of battery systems and testing procedures.
• Exposure to protection systems (desirable).
• Hands-on experience with fibre splicing and installation work.
• Strong problem-solving and diagnostic capability.
• Good physical fitness and ability to perform ladder work.
• A collaborative approach and commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Installation and commissioning of low-voltage DC power systems, including battery testing and maintenance.
• Deployment and commissioning of transmission systems (OTN, MPLS, SDH, PDH).
• Testing and commissioning of inside plant communications equipment.
• Fault finding and troubleshooting across communications and DC power systems.
• Installation, splicing, and termination of copper and fibre optic cabling.
• Interpretation and updating of technical drawings, diagrams, and schematics.
• Experience in working at heights will be an advantage.
• Electrical registration will be an advantage.
