Job summary

Vector in Auckland is seeking a Network Planning Engineer - Innovation to blend traditional network planning with forward-looking projects. You will analyse low-voltage networks, model capacity and DER connections, and support trials from concept to implementation.

You’ll collaborate across technical, customer, commercial, digital and operations teams, contribute to commissioned innovation programmes, and help shape an adaptable, future-ready grid.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field.
• 3–5 years’ experience in electricity or related engineering sector.
• Experience in low-voltage network design and planning.
• Strong modelling capability with PowerFactory or similar software.
• Strong Excel and data analytics skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan for network capacity, demand and development.
• Analyse low-voltage network and customer data to identify constraints.
• Use modelling to develop practical solutions for load and distributed generation connections.
• Provide network planning input into innovation projects from concept to implementation.
• Test assumptions and translate learnings into future planning and flexibility services.
