Job summary

Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities is seeking an experienced Architect - Information to lead the development and evolution of our enterprise information architecture. You will ensure information assets are structured, accessible, trusted, and aligned with organisational objectives and regulatory obligations.

Working within the Architecture & Security team, you will provide thought leadership across information architecture disciplines, shaping governance, security controls, and data management

Qualifications

• Significant experience in government or large, complex organisations delivering strategic information architecture initiatives.
• Experience developing and maintaining enterprise information architectures that support business and technology outcomes.
• Knowledge of AoG frameworks, methodologies, and standards (TOGAF, ArchiMate, COBIT, ISO, NIST, NZISM, PSR).
• Expertise in information structure, taxonomy, metadata, and information labelling.
• Ability to work across business and technology domains with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience applying architecture frameworks in complex enterprise environments.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and influencing skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strategic mindset with a delivery-focused approach to organisational outcomes.
• Knowledge of information governance and data management is desirable.

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Architect - Information to lead the development and evolution of our enterprise information architecture. This critical role will ensure information and data assets are structured, accessible, trusted, and aligned with organisational objectives, regulatory obligations, and emerging digital opportunities.

As part of our Architecture & Security team, you will provide thought leadership and technical expertise across information architecture disciplines, helping create a consistent and sustainable approach to information management across the organisation.

This role spans strategy, design, and delivery, providing architectural leadership and practical guidance throughout the solution lifecycle.

This role operates within a unified Architecture & Security operating model, where you will help shape organisation-wide information architecture practices and contribute to resilient, secure, and future-focused digital outcomes.

Ngā Pūmanawatanga Ōu - What You Will Bring

• Significant experience in government or large, complex organisations, delivering strategic information architecture initiatives and organisational change
• Proven experience developing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise information architectures that support business and technology outcomes
• Strong knowledge of industry and All-of-Government (AoG) frameworks, methodologies, and standards, including GEA-NZ, TOGAF, ArchiMate, COBIT, ITIL, ISO standards, NIST, NZISM, and the Protective Security Requirements (PSR)
• Demonstrated expertise in information structure, taxonomy, classification, content organisation, metadata, and information labelling practices
• The ability to work effectively across both business and technology domains, building strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
• Experience applying recognised architecture frameworks and patterns within complex enterprise environments
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage confidently with both technical and non-technical audiences
• A strategic mindset combined with a pragmatic, delivery-focused approach to achieving organisational outcomes
• Knowledge of contemporary information governance, digital transformation, and data management practices is desirable
