Qualifications

• Experience in sanitation or environmental services management within a healthcare setting.
• In-depth knowledge of infection control principles and healthcare hygiene standards.
• Familiarity with biohazard handling and disposal procedures.
• Strong leadership, training, and team-management skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Understanding of health and safety regulations for healthcare facilities.
• Relevant certification in Infection Control or Healthcare Environmental Services is desirable.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including potential on-call duties.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain sanitation and infection control programs for the facility.
• Lead, train, and supervise sanitation technicians, ensuring adherence to protocols.
• Conduct regular inspections of patient rooms, theatres, and common areas for optimal cleanliness.
• Ensure compliance with national and provincial health regulations and safety standards.
• Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment; ensure proper usage.
• Oversee disposal of medical waste and biohazard materials according to regulations.
• Respond to environmental cleaning needs during outbreaks or emergencies.
• Maintain records of cleaning schedules, staff performance, and audit findings.
• Liaise with nursing staff, administration and other departments on sanitation concerns.
• Promote a culture of safety, hygiene, and continuous improvement.
