Job summary

Kiwa Digital Ltd. is seeking an experienced Language Annotation Specialist to join the pilot phase of an Indigenous language revitalisation project in New Zealand. Using ELAN, you will create time-aligned annotations from interviews with first-language speakers.

You will help establish annotation conventions, apply consistent standards, prepare metadata, and collaborate with linguists and project team. Immediate availability required; contract role for twenty interviews to start.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience using ELAN.
• Experience annotating spoken language recordings.
• Experience in language documentation, corpus development or linguistic research.

Responsibilities

• Create time-aligned annotations using ELAN.
• Segment and annotate spoken language recordings.
• Work with translations already completed manually.
• Apply consistent annotation standards and conventions.
• Prepare metadata and undertake quality assurance.
• Collaborate with linguists, language experts and the project team.
• Help develop repeatable annotation workflows for a large-scale language documentation programme.
