Job summary

Asteron Life NZ is seeking an experienced Case Manager for the NZ Claims team. You will manage disability claims from assessment through to resolution, gathering medical, financial and occupational information to determine entitlements and develop claim strategies.

A key focus is supporting customers with recovery, rehabilitation and return-to-work planning. Experience with disability claims is highly valued, and candidates with broader health or wellbeing experience will also be successful.

Qualifications

• Experience managing disability claims and portfolio ownership.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience supporting customers through recovery or return-to-work planning.
• Ability to interpret medical, financial and occupational information.
• Understanding of medical terminology and its impact on work capacity.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
• Customer-focused approach with resilience and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of disability claims from notification to resolution, delivering timely, high-quality outcomes.
• Assess medical, financial and occupational information to determine eligibility, liability and ongoing entitlements.
• Build strong relationships with customers and support their recovery journey.
• Collaborate with medical professionals, advisers and service providers to progress claims.
• Monitor claims, review progress and implement rehabilitation initiatives where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate claim records and ensure decisions comply with policy and guidelines.
• Contribute to team outcomes through knowledge sharing and stakeholder engagement.
