Job summary

LinkPeople in Manukau, South Auckland, is seeking a qualified Social Worker to join the Housing First service and help people experiencing homelessness access stable homes and tailored health and social supports.

You will work Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with some travel across South Auckland. You will contribute to recovery, wellness and community outcomes while building skills in housing and homelessness services.

Qualifications

  • Registered Social Worker with current Practising Certificate
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Commitment to Treaty of Waitangi principles

Responsibilities

  • Work within Housing First service to help Tāngata Whai Ora and whānau access and sustain homes
  • Develop and manage housing solutions while supporting clients with mental health, addiction and trauma needs
  • Coordinate with health and social services and other agencies
  • Travel within South Auckland as needed
  • Maintain professional development and regulatory registrations

The Role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi


This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 5.00pm, based in Manukau working across South Auckland. Elements of the role may require travel.


This role will involve working within the Housing First service. The wrap-around community housing-based service will have a strong focus on transition, recovery and wellness that empowers tāngata whai ora and whānau to build the capacity to live well.


This role would be ideal for a registered Social Worker who would like to use their professional skills in a transferable way to make a difference in the housing space. You will require a practicing certificate for this role and will be supported to maintain your ongoing professional development needs and professional registration.


The position will involve working with and supporting people with high and complex needs, who are often living with intergenerational challenges, mental health, addiction and trauma issues around their needs to find and sustain homes in the community. You’ll work within a Housing First philosophy, and have the opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and expertise in the area of housing and homelessness.

We’d love to hear from registered Social Workers with a range of experience in the mental health and social sectors, particularly (but not necessarily) with experience in housing and residential recovery services.


Candidates will have:



  • Current registration with the Social Workers Registration Board with Annual Practising Certificate

  • Strong communication and relationship building skills, you’ll quickly build credibility while showcasing your sound problem solving and conflict resolution skills.

  • an ability to work at pace and flourish under pressure will be complemented by excellent attention to detail and proficiency in record keeping.

  • knowledge of and demonstrate utmost commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi articles and working with Māori.

  • A full New Zealand driving license is also essential.
