Job summary

Sofitel Queenstown is seeking a dedicated Kitchen Steward to maintain a spotless, hygienic space and pristine crockery in line with NZ food safety standards. You will support our kitchen team in a fast-paced hotel environment, ensuring cleanliness and organization across storage, prep and service areas.

Qualifications

• This role is physical; you will be on your feet and lifting items.
• Strong attention to detail and clear communication skills are essential.
• Able to work as part of a fast-paced hotel team with good time management.

Responsibilities

• Clean, sanitize and store cutlery, crockery, equipment and appliances; use industrial washers or hand wash as appropriate.
• Clean walls, floors and kitchen spaces according to area cleaning schedules.
• Clean food storage areas including fridges, cool rooms and dry goods stores; report hazards to Executive Chef.
• Remove rubbish regularly; keep kitchen and waste areas free of refuse; clean bins daily.
• General maintenance and cleaning of the loading dock.
• Clean cutlery, plates, sink area and employee restaurant buffet.
• Ensure cleaning equipment is maintained and report faults to the Executive Chef.
• Assist chefs with basic food preparation such as grating, peeling, chopping and garnishes.
• Fulfill any other reasonable requests from management.
