We are seeking a Hospitality Skills Tutor to deliver our hospitality programmes and help out with our short taster courses for students from our local secondary schools.

We are looking for a dynamic person who has experience in the hospitality industry to join our Service Industries tutor team based in our Tauranga campus. You will work alongside our other Tutors on-site.

The Service Industries Programmes are focused on providing basic hospitality skills and knowledge with modules including; barista skills, hygiene and food safety, food and beverage service skills, customer service skills and table service with opportunities to cater events and oversee work placements in local Cafes and restaurants.

The ideal person will be able to:

  • Relate to youth and want to make things happen for them
  • Provide learning in an interesting, fun and relevant way
  • Share their passion for navigating pathways into the future for our students
  • Drive and deliver achievement for our students
  • Build positive relationships with students and their whānau
  • Use their expertise, skills and knowledge to pass on valuable industry skills

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • A genuine passion for helping youth achieve their educational goals
  • To use MS Office 365 apps and our cloud-based apps to manage planning, attendance, results, and outcomes
  • Develop and collate Literacy and Numeracy portfolios with students
  • Deliver sessions and assess student achievement against the New Zealand Qualification Framework including hospitality skill standards
  • Adult teaching experience and holding the National Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education (NCALNE) (Level 5) would be an advantage, however professional development will be offered

This position is for 40 hours per week - Monday to Friday. Hours: 8am - 4.30pm daily.
