Job summary

Recreational Services in Hastings, Hawke's Bay, seeks two energetic individuals for the Horticulture team. The role focuses on outdoor duties including planting, weeding, mulching, and vegetation control, with additional tasks like setting up bollards, picnic tables and park signs.

You will work on landscaping projects and mower operation. The ideal candidate will have horticulture or landscaping experience, be physically fit, and hold a clean NZ driver’s licence with trailer towing ability.

Qualifications

• Experience in horticulture/landscaping/gardening preferred.
• Must be physically fit for outdoor work.
• Clean, current driver's licence and ability to tow a trailer.
• Able to work well in a team and follow health & safety procedures.
• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Planting, weeding, mulching and vegetation control tasks.
• Set up bollards, picnic tables, park signs and sprucing up greenery.
• Contribute to landscaping projects like street gardens.
• Operate mowers and related equipment as required.
• Support team to ensure timely completion of tasks.

What does a Horticulture Response Operator role involve?

Supporting your team, you will be responsible for a range of duties; from planting, weeding, mulching and vegetation control tasks to setting up bollards, picnic tables, and park signs or sprucing up greenery and working on landscaping projects like street gardens and mower operation.

Who we are looking for:

Ideally, we would love someone who has had experience in a similar role or previous experience in horticulture/landscaping/gardening. This role can be physically demanding, so physical fitness is needed. Other success factors include:

• A clean and current drivers' licence with the ability to drive a manual and tow a trailer
• Be a team player with a positive attitude - helping out your teammates needs to be second nature
• Proven experience adhering to health and safety procedures
• Self motivated with a strong desire to get the job done
