Avondale College is seeking an experienced teacher and leader to become the HOD Physics, working with the Director of Science and other HODs to advance a large, well‑resourced science department.

The role provides an exciting opportunity to demonstrate expertise and leadership within a high‑performing department, with a full pathway in NCEA and Cambridge curricula. NZ registered teachers are required and participation in co‑curricular life is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Physics department as Head of Department (HOD).
  • Collaborate with the Director of Science and other HODs to guide curriculum and teaching practice.
  • Oversee NCEA and Cambridge pathway delivery within the department.

We have a vacancy for an experienced teacher/leader of Physics to become our new HOD Physics. You will work with our Director of Science and other HODs to lead our large and well-resourced science department.

Applicants for positions at Avondale College must be NZ registered teachers and will endorse the school's academic priority as well as be expected to participate in the extensive co-curricular life of the school.

The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position is set by the Secondary Teachers' Collective Agreement. The base salary for trained and registered teachers will range from $62,862 to $105,686 depending on applicants' qualifications and experience. Individuals' actual base salary will be established by a salary assessment once a role is confirmed.
