Placements24 is seeking Food Service Assistants for a busy catering operation in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. You will support chefs with kitchen duties, food preparation, dishwashing, and help maintain cleanliness and food safety.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a food service or kitchen is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided.
• Must understand basic hygiene and food safety principles.
• Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist chefs with food preparation tasks (vegetables, portions, assembly).
• Operate and maintain dishwashing equipment and clean utensils and cookware.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene; ensure surfaces and floors are clean.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Receive and store food supplies with proper rotation.
• Set up serving stations and replenish food during service.
• Dispose of waste per procedures and recycle appropriately.
• Follow recipes and instructions accurately.
• Support team for efficient workflow and timely service.
• Perform other kitchen duties as assigned by supervisors.
