Bathurst Resources is New Zealand’s largest specialist coal mine company. We produced over 2.2 million tonnes of coal each year and proudly employ over 550 people. About 80 percent of our production is used for steel making of which one third is used by a local Kiwi steel mill. The Role:

This is a permanent, full-time position, reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor. The Heavy Diesel Mechanic role is involved in scheduled & unscheduled maintenance and repairs of a fleet of CAT haulage trucks, utility vehicles, load shifting equipment. Some of the tasks are:

• Repair and maintain the hydraulic components of large mining equipment
• Diagnose, overhaul, repair, tune, maintain and test diesel powered heavy equipment including trucks, dozers, and other earth moving equipment
• Communicate any safety or maintenance issues to the supervisor

Skills & Requirements:

• Trade qualification in Heavy plant AUS/NZ Recognised Trade Certificate
• Experience in OEM mobile plant –
• Water cart CAT 773
• CAT 16M Grader
• CAT 966, 980 Loaders
• Outstanding troubleshooting / diagnostic skills
• Ability to read schematics
• Previous experience conducting component change-outs / breakdowns and fault finding
• Valid and relevant Driver's Licences
• Sourcing technical information from available reference manuals, OEM, and computer- based systems
• Ability to work autonomously
