Health, Safety, Sustainability and Quality (HSSQ) Coordinator

This role offers flexibility – it can be Part Time (32 hours) or Full Time (40 hours) for the right person. We are looking for someone who loves variety, enjoys collaborating with a wide range of people, and wants to be part of a supportive, forward-thinking team. You’ll have the chance to grow your skills, contribute to meaningful projects, and help shape the future of Health, Safety, Sustainability and Quality at Cook Brothers.

In this role, you’ll be the glue that helps connect the dots across our projects in Dunedin while being part of the National Health, Safety, Sustainability and Quality team. The role includes rolling out initiatives, championing continuous improvement, and building great relationships across the business. We are looking for an approach that brings energy, initiative, and a passion for people and doing things better every day.

We are looking for someone who’s excited to make a real impact, strengthen our positive HSSQ culture, and help drive initiatives that make our sites safer, and our teams even stronger, while having fun along the way.

If you’ve got a great attitude, a keen eye for detail, and a drive to make a difference—we’d love to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the rollout of national HSSQ initiatives and projects across the business.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with site teams, project managers, and support staff.
  • Promote and encourage a strong, engaged HSSQ culture where people feel empowered to speak up and lead by example.
  • Complete audits, site observations, and assist in the development of practical tools and resources to support HSSQ goals.
  • Help communicate key messages, success stories, and updates around health, safety, sustainability, and quality.
  • Contribute ideas and energy to continuous improvement efforts across all areas of HSSQ.
  • Support training, events, and initiatives that make HSSQ accessible, practical, and part of everyday site life.
  • Be an active voice for positive change—bringing fresh thinking and a solutions-focused mindset to the team.

Skills and Experience:

You will have a strong Administrator background, preferably within the Construction Industry, with a passion and desire to move to the Health, Safety, Sustainability and Quality space.

  • Positive and influential customer service skills
  • Adaptability in responding to different ideas, situations and/or people
  • An understanding of health, safety, sustainability, and quality requirements within the workplace
  • Experience within an Administration role
  • Clear and effective communication skills
  • High level of time management skills
  • Relevant tertiary qualification or studying towards a qualification is highly desired
  • Previous experience within the Construction Industry is highly desired
