Job summary

Transpower New Zealand in Christchurch is seeking a Health and Safety Practitioner to support Leadership, Line Managers and staff in delivering robust safety performance across the organisation. You’ll synthesize data, provide assurance and insights, and influence decisions at all levels.

The role blends corporate and site-based mahi, involves working in high-risk electrical environments, and requires strong communication, collaboration and a proactive safety mindset to protect people and assets

Qualifications

• Solid knowledge of New Zealand health and safety legislation.
• Experience delivering positive outcomes in high-risk environments.
• Experience with large contracting organisations and outsourcing.
• Experience leading incident investigations using ICAM or similar.
• Ability to produce high-quality safety reports and insights.

Responsibilities

• Provide regional health and safety guidance to employees, service providers and contractors.
• Support leadership and line managers to drive safety performance.
• Lead safety assurance initiatives and develop robust safety strategies.
• Support incident investigations using recognised methodologies such as ICAM/TapRooT.
