The role: Lead the Health & Safety strategy and culture across the national network. This is a critical leadership role within our senior team, responsible for creating a safe, healthy, and inclusive working environment.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop and implement an integrated Health & Safety strategy that promotes a strong, proactive safety culture.
  • Lead risk management across the organisation, ensuring hazards are identified, assessed, and effectively managed.
  • Ensure Health & Safety policies, procedures, and practices meet all legal, regulatory, and industry standards.
  • Provide leadership and advice to the senior leadership team, managers, and employees on all aspects of Health & Safety.
  • Lead incident and near-miss investigations, implementing corrective actions and sharing learnings across the network.
  • Drive Health & Safety training, mentoring, and supporting H&S representatives and leaders across the business.
  • Oversee Health & Safety audits, reporting, and compliance metrics, driving continuous improvement.
Skills & Experience
  • Tertiary qualifications in Health & Safety or a related discipline (Diploma or higher).
  • 5+ years’ experience in a Health & Safety leadership role within distribution, construction, or manufacturing sectors.
  • In-depth knowledge of the New Zealand Health & Safety at Work Act 2015 and proven ability to apply it in practice.
  • ICAM accreditation required.
  • Strong experience with H&S management systems and compliance reporting.
  • Proven track record in building positive safety cultures and engaging stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong influencing and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to analyse complex information, identify risks, and deliver practical, effective solutions.
