Job description

Health, Safety and Wellbeing Coordinator

Support the Health, Safety and Wellbeing team through project coordination, administration, training, reporting and wellbeing programme support.

Part-time - 20 hours per week | Fixed term - nine months.

Te tūranga | The Opportunity

Are you an organised, practical coordinator who enjoys bringing order to busy work and helping a team deliver meaningful outcomes?

Kāpiti Coast District Council is looking for a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Co-ordinator to join our Health, Safety and Wellbeing team which is part of the wider People and Capability Group. This varied part-time role will provide essential coordination and administrative support to our small, collaborative Health, Safety and Wellbeing team during a busy period of projects and improvement initiatives.

You don't need to be a health and safety expert. We're looking for someone who is confident managing multiple priorities, follows tasks through to completion and provides a helpful, professional service.

About the role

No two weeks will look quite the same. You will:

  • Coordinate HSW training, meetings, events and employee wellbeing programmes.
  • Manage bookings, invitations, attendance records and follow-up actions.
  • Support two significant health and safety projects by coordinating meetings and workshops, and maintaining action registers, documentation and deadlines.
  • Assist with purchase orders, invoices, records and routine reporting.
  • Prepare clear staff communications, presentations, guidance and resources.
  • Respond to routine HSW enquiries and help people find the right information.
  • Maintain accurate HSW files, registers and templates
  • Work with staff, leaders, contractors and external providers.
Nā tōu rourou | What you will bring
  • Experience in administration, project coordination, team coordination or a similar role.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Confidence using Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and SharePoint.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound judgement when working with confidential or sensitive information.
  • A practical, positive and collaborative approach.
  • A current New Zealand driver licence.

An understanding of workplace health, safety and wellbeing would be useful, but your ability to learn quickly, build effective relationships and keep work moving is just as important.

Why join us?

This is an opportunity to contribute to work that supports the health, safety and wellbeing of people across Council, while developing your coordination experience in a varied and meaningful role.

If you're organised, approachable and enjoy making things happen, we'd love to hear from you.
