The Lines Company in New Zealand is seeking a Safety Systems & Data Advisor to help embed Safety Differently across our safety systems, data and field activities. You’ll convert safety data into dashboards and insights, support field crews on how work is actually done, and coach teams to use our tools safely and effectively.
Ideal candidates bring a positive, safety‑minded attitude and experience in health and safety or related areas like operations, data or quality.
Introduction: This is a practical, varied role. You’ll work across our safety systems, data and field activity, helping our people do great work safely. You’ll also help put Safety Differently into practice — our shift from asking “who failed?” to “what made this make sense?” Bring the right attitude and we’ll back you to grow.
At The Lines Company (TLC), we’ve been powering the King Country for over 100 years. As a community-owned electricity distribution company, everything we do comes back to people — our customers, our communities, and our team. We’re a People First business with a bold ambition: to be among the top 10% of New Zealand workplaces for engagement by 2029.
Here’s why safety sits at the heart of that. Our people telling us their manager takes their safety suggestions seriously is the single biggest driver of engagement we have. Safety and great work aren’t a trade‑off. Great work is safe work — and this role helps us keep that true.
You’ll help make Safety Differently real — in our systems, in our data and out in the field.
You’ll work alongside our Field, Training & Engagement Advisor and the wider team, with support from our partners at Fisher Improvement Technologies. We’ll back you with training and development — including in the AERO methodology.
We care more about who you are than a checklist of qualifications. You’re curious, credible and constructive. You like getting things right, you’re comfortable with people at every level, and you want to be part of a team that’s building something.
Above all, you’re a team player who wants to learn and grow. If you don’t tick every box but this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
At TLC, we’re about more than keeping the power on — we care deeply about our people, customers, and community.
You’ll join a supportive, collaborative team where your work has real impact, and a leadership team that goes first — we model what we ask of the business. Safety Differently only works when our systems tell the truth and we understand how work is really done. This role is central to both.
Alongside a competitive salary, we offer:
Join a community-owned company that packs a big punch — making a real difference in the energy sector and the communities we serve.
Safety and wellbeing are important to us. Our recruitment process includes a Ministry of Justice criminal history check and pre‑employment medical, alcohol, and drug testing. Applicants must be a New Zealand citizen or resident, or hold a valid NZ work visa.
