Job summary

New Zealand Government is seeking an Advisor in the Determinants of Health team to provide high-quality advice, research and analysis to support policy and decision-making across public and mental health. You will work with stakeholders to develop and deliver policies and initiatives aimed at improving equitable health outcomes for New Zealanders.

You will contribute to a varied programme of work, delivering briefs, reports and recommendations and supporting project delivery while building

Qualifications

• Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to evaluate information and develop evidence-based recommendations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages for a range of audiences.
• Sound judgement, critical thinking, and attention to detail when working with complex information.
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities, work proactively, and deliver quality outcomes to deadlines.
• Strong relationship management skills and a collaborative approach to working with stakeholders and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality advice, briefings, reports, and recommendations to support informed decision-making.
• Research and analyse complex issues, identifying risks, opportunities, and practical solutions.
• Support the delivery of projects, policies, programmes, and initiatives to achieve agreed outcomes.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders across government, the health sector, and community partners.
• Work collaboratively across the Ministry and with stakeholders, helping develop and deliver policies, programmes and initiatives that support equitable health outcomes for New Zealanders.
