Job summary

Tend Health is a New Zealand–owned primary care provider redefining how mental health care is delivered. We invite Health Improvement Practitioners (HIPs) to work in-clinic or online across the motu, partnering with GPs and other health professionals to deliver brief, evidence-based assessments and interventions that support patient well-being.

This hybrid/remote role welcomes clinicians from nursing, psychology, social work, occupational therapy, addiction practice, or counselling backgrounds,

Qualifications

• Fully registered health professional under HPCA Act 2003 with a scope appropriate to mental health and addictions.
• Experienced clinician, including those working in acute mental health settings, able to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to continuous development and improvement initiatives.

This hybrid and/or remote role is ideal for fully-trained Health Improvement Practitioners (HIPs). You can work in-clinic and/or online as a regular team member, delivering brief, consultation-based services to general practice team members and general practice patients. You will provide evidence-based clinical assessments and interventions for individuals as they work towards building their well-being.

Counsellors, Social Workers, Acute Mental Health Clinicians & RNs with Mental Health training/background are all welcome to apply — whether your background is in nursing, psychology, psychotherapy, occupational therapy, addiction practice, social work, or counselling.

Who can apply

A clinician with any one of the following scopes of practice is welcome to apply:

• Fully registered under the Health Practitioner Competence Assurance (HPCA) Act 2003 with a scope of practice appropriate to working as a mental health and addiction clinician, e.g. nurse, psychologist, psychotherapist, occupational therapist

• A fully registered alcohol and drug and/or gambling practitioner member of the Addiction Practitioners' Association Aotearoa – New Zealand (DAPAANZ)

• A fully registered Social Worker

• A full member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC) who meets the criteria and has been accredited by the NZAC to work within the mental health and addictions scope of practice. Accredited NZAC Counsellors will hold an annual health subscription certificate issued by NZAC.

Where you'll work

We are looking for multiple HIPs to join our team, all across the motu — including, but not limited to, Auckland, Bay of Plenty & Canterbury.

What we're looking for

Our ideal HIP will:

• Be a registered health professional under either the HPCA Act or the Social Workers Registration Act

• Be an experienced clinician — including those working in acute mental health settings — who works well in a multidisciplinary team of GPs, nurses and other health professionals

• Enjoy continuous development & contribute to our ongoing improvement initiatives.
