Job summary

New Plymouth Sunhaven Holdings Limited is seeking Health Care Assistants to work in a challenging environment in New Plymouth. The role offers 30–40 hours per week with hourly pay ranging from $26.16 to $28.25.

Responsibilities include personal care, mobility assistance, vital sign monitoring, and supporting nursing staff. Qualifications require NZQA Level 4 in health care or 3 years' experience, with good communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• NZQA Level 4 health care qualification or 3 years' relevant experience required.
• Compassionate, patient, and understanding by nature.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work both in a team and independently.
• Culturally sensitive and able to engage with families.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
• First Aid and CPR certification is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding patients.
• Assist patients with mobility and daily living activities.
• Monitor and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, heart rate).
• Support nursing/medical staff by following instructions and maintaining a safe environment.
• Assist with meal preparation and serving, accommodating dietary needs.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to patients.
• Assist in moving and transferring patients with proper lifting techniques.
• Report changes in patient condition to nursing staff.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities.
