Fulton Hogan in New Zealand is seeking a Health and Safety Advisor to support the Papakura to Drury (P2D) major projects team in South Auckland. You will lead safety performance across the project, partner with site teams, clients and subcontractors to drive high-quality safety outcomes.

You\'ll encourage a positive H&S culture, conduct risk assessments, audits and incident investigations, and deliver training and inductions.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Health & Safety.
• 5+ years in a dedicated Health & Safety role.
• Class 1 NZ driver's licence.
• Experience with incident investigations, risk management and safety audits.
• Strong communication and influencing skills.
• Knowledge of civil construction safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Encourage a positive, open H&S culture across teams.
• Provide site advice, lead risk assessments, audits and inspections.
• Lead incident investigations and recommend corrective actions.
• Deliver safety training and staff inductions.
• Drive safety messages at toolbox meetings and updates.
• Maintain documentation in line with regulatory requirements.

We’re looking for a Health and Safety Advisor to join our Major Projects team on the project Papakura to Drury (P2D) in South Auckland. You’ll help lead safety performance across a major infrastructure project, partnering with site teams, clients and subcontractors to drive safe, consistent, high-quality outcomes.

Project Scope: SH1 P2D (Stage 1B) is part of a staged upgrade to improve SH1 and adjacent multi modal travel reliability, access, and safety. Stage 1B ties into Stage1A, NIMT Bridges, and completes a combined 6km of three laned SH1 in both directions, six new motorway bridges and multiple interfacing local roads, over motorway bridges, Shared User Paths (SUPs) and upgraded utilities.

In addition to the above you will:

• Encourage a positive, open and honest H&S culture that empowers teams to speak up and engage
• Provide valuable site advice, lead risk assessments, safety audits, and workplace inspections
• Lead and support incident investigations and recommending corrective actions, driving compliance
• Deliver safety training and staff induction programs, providing education on H&S policies
• Drive safety messages and discussions during toolbox meetings
• Maintain comprehensive documentation in line with regulatory requirements
• Promote operational ownership of H&S compliance, driving achievement of KPI’s
• Stay up to date with industry H&S practise and regulatory changes
• Building positive working relationships with our clients and subcontractors through proactive engagement and management

We’re looking for someone with:

• Hold a relevant tertiary qualification in Health & Safety or equivalent
• Have 5+ years’ experience in a dedicated Health and Safety role preferably within a contracting and construction environments.
• Hold a class 1 NZ full driver’s licence
• Have hands‑on experience with incident investigation, risk management, and safety audits
• Be a strong, effective communicator, confident and able to influence and attract engagement
• Solid knowledge of applicable acts, standards and regulations relating to Health & Safety compliance in civil construction activities.
• Be physically fit to walk around large sites on uneven terrain, climb ladders etc.
• Able to work outside of normal working hours(weekends and Night Shifts)on occasion
