Te Kura Kōhine o Ahuriri - Napier Girls’ High School sits upon Mataruahou, overlooking Ahuriri, Napier, and provides education for students in Y9-13. Our kura is one of the oldest in Aotearoa for kōhine, young women. Napier Girls’ High School is seeking a dynamic and inspiring Head of Learning Area for Mathematics, to lead our team of experienced and dedicated kura māhita.

Our ideal candidate will have:

• Leadership experience within a school or similar environment
• A strong understanding of NCEA, numeracy and an awareness of upcoming changes
• Exceptional teaching practice and knowledge, with a commitment to meeting diverse academic needs within our kura
• Commitment to culturally responsive practice
• Experience in using data to inform practice and a commitment to raising student achievement
• Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills

This is a full-time, permanent position beginning in January of 2026. As a Head of Learning Area, this role attracts 3 management units and 1MMA.
