Retail Management PositionHead of Home and GardenPermanent – Full Time (43 hours per week)Mitre 10 MEGA Invercargill is a locally owned and operated company with a vision to provide outstanding customer service and great value products to all our customers. Due to a relocation of one of our management team, an opportunity has become available for an experienced, highly motivated and passionate leader to join our wonderful local team in Invercargill.The Head of Home and Garden will be responsible to lead and manage the allocated department categories growing the capability of the team, growing sales and profitability, and continuously improving the customer experience. This position has full managerial responsibility across the allocated departments for sales performance, employment relation matters and health & safety.This is a busy hands-on role working in the business to drive towards our sales targets, maintain and enhance store standards as well as being actively involved with the products we sell. This role will also form part of the operational duty managers roster which includes working one day at the weekend on a permanent basis, and the usual roster pattern for this role is Sunday to Thursday.Candidates for this role would be expected to have extensive sales and people leadership, ideally in big box retail or grocery; and would have been a store manager in a small to medium size store, or department/assistant manager in a larger format store. You will need to possess the following skills:

  • Minimum 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience to lead and inspire a team of 20 or more.
  • Be a people centric leader
  • Exceptional communicator
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Experience in leading change and supporting a team to thrive during periods of change
