Job summary

Marlborough Tour Company in Blenheim, South Island, is seeking an energetic Head Chef to lead our kitchen team at Furneaux Lodge. This full-time role offers the chance to craft exceptional seasonal menus in a brand-new kitchen, while living on-site at our remote lodge locations.

You will mentor junior staff, collaborate with local suppliers, and deliver memorable dining experiences for guests amid Marlborough's stunning surroundings. Prior Head Chef experience and NZ work rights are required.

Qualifications

• Must lead a kitchen team with clear communication.
• Fluent English in a busy kitchen environment.
• Two years of Head Chef experience required.
• Right to live and work in New Zealand; no sponsorship.

We have a Head Chef position available in our brand-new restaurant and kitchen at Furneaux Lodge

At Marlborough Tour Company the biggest asset is our people, who are all committed to giving an exceptional guest experience in a beautiful part of the world. A direct boat ride out from Picton and located right on the Queen Charlotte Track, we’re a popular stop for walkers, mountain bikers and local boaties.

Due to our remote location, applicants must live onsite.

About the Role - Mo tēnei tūrangi mahi

We are seeking an energetic, passionate and experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys creating exceptional food, mentoring others, and making a real impact in a supportive and small kitchen team.

As our Head Chef, you will bring proven leadership experience, inspire and develop our junior kitchen team, and create exciting, innovative menus that showcase your creativity and passion for quality cuisine.

You’ll be working in a brand-new, purpose-built kitchen, providing an outstanding environment to create and deliver exceptional dining experiences.

We take great pride in our food and beverage offering, working closely with local suppliers and making the most of fresh, seasonal ingredients to highlight the best our region has to offer.

This is a full-time, permanent position. Our lodge enjoys a busy summer season followed by a quieter winter period, providing the opportunity to take holidays or extended leave while the lodge is closed during the winter months.

• Works well in a team and brings a positive attitude
• Communicates confidently in English in a busy kitchen environment
• Shows respect, reliability and strong work ethic
• Is adaptable and happy to work across both lodge locations when needed
• Has at least 2 years’ experience in a Head Chef role
• Already has the right to live and work in New Zealand (no sponsorship available)

Couples are most welcome to apply - if your partner has hospitality experience then we would love to hear from them also. Due to room configuration, the accommodation is not suitable for families.
