Job summary

Tradestaff Tauranga is seeking experienced Hammerhands to work across residential and light commercial construction projects throughout Tauranga and the wider Bay of Plenty. If you’re confident on the tools and can contribute from day one, we want to hear from you!

Starting immediately, you’ll join tradespeople on sites, with pay of $30–$32 per hour, weekly pay, and potential ongoing work. Full NZ driver licence and working rights required; site safety is essential, and the team will support you

Qualifications

• Experience on residential or light commercial sites.

• Solid tool skills and safety mindset.
• Able to read basic plans when required.

Responsibilities

• Assist builders on residential and light commercial sites.
• Carry out general Hammerhand duties.

• Assist with framing, lining, cladding and other tasks.

• Keep worksites clean and safe under supervision.

Job description

HammerhandTradestaff Tauranga is looking for experienced Hammerhands to work across a variety of residential and light commercial construction projects throughout Tauranga and the wider Bay of Plenty.

If you're confident on the tools, know your way around a construction site and can get stuck in without needing constant supervision, we want to hear from you!

We're also open to hearing from experienced construction labourers who have solid tool skills and are ready to step up into a Hammerhand role. Previous hands-on construction experience is essential, as we're looking for people who can contribute confidently on site from day one.

Location: Tauranga, Bay of Plenty

Start date: Immediate start

Pay rate: $30–$32 per hour, depending on experience (paid weekly)

You'll be working alongside experienced tradespeople across a variety of projects, including new builds, renovations, alterations, maintenance and light commercial construction.

What You'll Be Doing

• Assisting builders and qualified tradespeople across residential and light commercial construction sites
• Carrying out general Hammerhand and construction duties
• Using hand and power tools confidently and safely
• Measuring, cutting and preparing building materials
• Assisting with framing, lining, cladding and other building tasks
• Reading and interpreting basic plans where required
• Keeping worksites clean, organised and safe while following instructions from site managers and qualified tradespeople

What We're Looking For

• Previous Hammerhand or solid hands-on construction labouring experience — not suitable for complete beginners
• Confidence using hand and power tools, with practical construction knowledge and good initiative
• Experience working on residential and/or light commercial construction sites
• Ability to work independently and alongside tradespeople, taking direction when required
• Reliable, hardworking attitude with pride in your workmanship and a good understanding of site health and safety
• Full NZ Driver Licence, reliable transport, nail bag and your own basic hand tools
• Site Safe advantageous but not essential — we can assist with this
• Valid NZ working rights, ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test, and recent contactable references
