Job summary

Novotel & Ibis Rotorua Lakeside is seeking a Food & Beverage Attendant to join our team in Rotorua. You will help deliver breakfast, lunch, dinner, bar, and event service with a focus on guest satisfaction and smooth dining experiences.

You will greet guests, take orders, serve meals and beverages, handle payments, and ensure stations are clean and well-stocked. A positive, proactive attitude and teamwork are essential in this role.

Qualifications

• Genuine passion for quality, presentation, and delivering outstanding customer service.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage positively with guests from diverse backgrounds.
• Strong command of both written and spoken English.
• Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods and lift or carry light trays and equipment.
• Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
• Previous hospitality, food and beverage service experience is preferred, but not essential.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Friendly, professional attitude and passion for creating exceptional guest experiences.
• Positive, proactive, can-do approach to work.
• Strong organisational, communication, and time management skills.
• Understanding of basic food safety and hygiene practices.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster across seven days, including weekends and public holidays.
• New Zealand citizenship, permanent residency.

Responsibilities

• Greeting guests warmly and professionally as they arrive
• Taking food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently
• Delivering food and drinks to tables in a timely manner
• Clearing tables, resetting and maintaining a clean dining area
• Handling guest queries, requests, and complaints with care
• Processing payments using POS systems and handling cash/card transactions
• Restocking supplies and ensuring stations are stocked and tidy
• Following hygiene, safety, and food handling procedures at all times
• Supporting colleagues and working collaboratively as part of a team
• Setting up and packing down service areas as required
• Communicating any dietary needs or guest concerns to kitchen team
• Completing daily cleaning and closing checklists
