Job summary

Air New Zealand is seeking a Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Support Engineer based in Auckland, with consideration for Christchurch. You will ensure specialised equipment, tooling and test systems are safe, compliant and ready to support aircraft maintenance and operations.

Join our Tech Ops team to enhance safety, reliability and capability of maintenance and airport operations, contributing to Air New Zealand’s reputation for engineering excellence and innovation.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary engineering qualification in Mechanical or Electrical, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer qualification would be advantageous.
  • At least five years' experience in a technical engineering environment, ideally within aviation or aerospace.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles, maintenance practices, regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with engineering judgement; FEA experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and project management skills; comfortable using modern digital tools.

Responsibilities

  • Assess GSE, tooling and test equipment to ensure safety, compliance and readiness for maintenance activities.
  • Review equipment purchases and provide engineering advice for safe, practical, cost-effective solutions.
  • Produce engineering assessments and technical documentation to support regulatory compliance and quality standards.
  • Develop calibration, maintenance and equipment equivalency solutions to improve reliability and capability.
  • Investigate issues, identify risks and create innovative solutions when standard approaches don’t exist.
  • Collaborate with engineers, OEMs, manufacturers and regulators to keep equipment safe and fit-for-purpose.
