Job summary

Napier Port is seeking an experienced finance professional to join our team in Napier, New Zealand. You will support month‑end, external reporting, tax/compliance, treasury and FP&A, while helping strengthen financial controls and systems.

You'll bring CA/CPA qualifications, 5+ years in accounting, and solid knowledge of finance operations, Excel and reporting tools. Collaboration across the finance team and wider business is essential in a zero‑harm workplace.

Qualifications

• Five or more years’ accounting experience in CA firm or corporate environment.
• CA/CPA membership (CAANZ or international equivalent).
• Strong understanding of finance operations, systems and technology.
• Intermediate Excel skills and experience with financial reporting tools.
• Sharp attention to detail with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Effective planning, organisation and communication across teams.
• Continuous improvement mindset to support finance team and organisation.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to month-end processes, balance sheet reconciliations and management reporting.
• Support external financial reporting per NZ IFRS and NZX, liaise with external auditors.
• Assist tax and compliance activities including GST, FBT and provisions.
• Support treasury, cashflow monitoring, debt facilities and hedging relationships.
• Assist financial planning and analysis: forecasting, scenarios and leases.
• Support fixed asset processes and improve finance systems, controls.
• Coach and cover for Financial Reporting Manager; promote safety culture.
