Job summary

Green by Nature, a facilities management company operating across New Zealand and Australia, is seeking a Response Operator to join our Auckland grounds team. The role covers planting, pruning, weed control, hedge trimming and general vegetation maintenance across multiple sites.

You will support the mowing operator, assist the team manager with gardening tasks, collect litter, and help with equipment upkeep.

Qualifications

• Practical experience in horticulture is preferred but not required.
• Excellent work ethic with a passion for outdoor, hands-on tasks.
• Valid full Class 1 driver’s licence with the ability to drive a manual Ute.
• Good level of fitness; the role can be physically demanding.
• Team player with a positive attitude and strong communication skills.
• Motivation to complete tasks and a willingness to take on varied duties.
• Ability to use a smartphone and other basic technology is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Maintain both soft and hard surfaces across multiple sites.
• Planting, pruning, weeding, hedge trimming, and general vegetation care.
• Weed eating, edging, litter management, and site presentation.
• Mow alongside the mowing operator and assist with edging tasks.
• Support the team manager with gardening work and reports.
• Operate weed eaters, blowers, hand tools and spraying equipment as needed.
• Report to the team manager and provide feedback.

Green by Nature is a facilities management company that operates across New Zealand and Australia. We provide full facility parks maintenance services. As part of our commitment to upkeeping the Auckland South Auckland region across a number of different sites we are looking for a Response Operator to join our team!

What does the role involve you ask?

Our Grounds Workers are like jack-of-all-trades superstars. They've got the skills and know-how to handle any job that comes their way, from planting to weed eating, our Grounds Workers do it all! General day-to-day activities of the role includes:

• Maintaining both soft and hard surfaces
• Pruning, planting, and weeding
• Hedge trimming
• General vegetation maintenance.
• Weed eating and edging
• Litter management
• Equipment and plant maintenance
• Roadside vegetation management

As our groundsman you will be responsible for assisiting both the mowing operator with edging activities across all sites. You will also be required to assist our team manager with gardening works when required and will be needed to collect loose litter and sometime empty bins at specific sites.

Tools include using weed eaters, blowers, small hand tools and spraying equipment at times.

Reporting will also be a part of the role and giving feedback to the team manager is critical.

What we are looking for:

Ideally we would love someone who has practical experience in horticulture, however, this is not a must. If you have an awesome work ethic, with a passion for working outdoors and getting stuck in then you would be a perfect candidate. Other success factors also include:

• A current, full Class 1 driver’s licence with the ability to drive a manual Ute
• Has a good level of fitness - at times this role can be physically demanding
• Be a team player with a positive attitude - helping out your team mates needs to be second nature
• Have excellent relationship building and communication skills
• Tones of motivation with a strong desire to get this job done
• The ability to use smart phone and other technology is advantageous
