Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Graduate Electrical Engineer to join our team in New Zealand. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers on electrical projects, gaining hands-on exposure across the project lifecycle and developing technical and professional skills.

This role targets recent graduates or those finishing in 2026, with opportunities across Auckland, Christchurch, Hamilton, Dunedin and Wellington, supported by mentoring and a two-year graduate development programme.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, with expected completion before starting.
• Interest in Power Engineering and related electrical design concepts.
• New graduates or graduating in 2026 welcome to apply.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the investigation, analysis, and design of electrical engineering systems and components.
• Perform engineering calculations using industry-standard and specialist software.
• Support the preparation of electrical drawings, schematics, specifications, reports, and presentations.
• Assist with developing electrical designs in accordance with relevant codes, standards, and best practices.
• Collaborate with engineers and multidisciplinary project teams to deliver innovative engineering solutions
• Support construction-phase activities, including reviewing contractor submissions, responding to technical queries, and assisting with design clarifications
• Undertake site visits and field work to gain practical project experience
• Contribute to a positive team culture while continuing to build your technical expertise and professional network
