Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Taranaki seeks an experienced GP to join as GP Liaison Advisor: Primary-Secondary Integration. You will lead system-level clinical liaison between general practice and hospital services, strengthening relationships and driving integrated care pathways.

The role focuses on improving patient journeys, advising on service development, and supporting governance for equity in care. 0.4 FTE and part-time flexibility are offered, in Taranaki region.

Qualifications

• Hold vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate.
• Maintain appropriate medical indemnity cover and stay clinically current.
• Demonstrate established relationships across both primary and secondary care.

Responsibilities

• Strengthen communication and collaboration between primary and secondary care.
• Support integrated models of care, clinical pathways and service improvements.
• Provide strategic advice on primary–secondary care integration and governance.
• Enhance referral processes and improve access to specialist services.
• Act as a clinical adviser to Health New Zealand Taranaki and its partners.
