Are you passionate about supporting democratic processes and working at the heart of local government? We're looking for a proactive and highly organised Governance & Democracy Coordinator to join our team.

About the Role:

In this pivotal role, you’ll provide essential administrative and logistical support to our Elected Members and the Governance & Democracy team—ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes!

What you'll be Doing:

  • Managing diaries and meeting logistics for Elected Members and the team, including preparing agendas, calendars, and templates
  • Coordinating and documenting key governance activities, including citizenship ceremonies and travel arrangements for the team
  • Supporting policy and procedural development through research and preparation of documentation
  • Building strong relationships with internal teams, external stakeholders, iwi, and community partners

What You Will Bring:

  • 2+ years’ experience in an executive assistance or similar customer-facing role
  • Experience in meeting administration and knowledge of statutory procedures
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and effective time management
  • Political and business acumen with the ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Proven relationship-building skills and the ability to work collaboratively within teams
  • Professionalism, integrity, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
