Job summary

Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade NZ – Wellington, North Island – is seeking an experienced social media and digital communications adviser to shape New Zealand's voice online. You’ll turn complex information into clear content, publish across MFAT's channels, and support campaigns with global reach.

This permanent Wellington-based role requires five years in communications/digital content, strong writing and analytics, and ability to collaborate with teams worldwide.

Qualifications

• At least five years' experience in communications, digital content, or social media.
• Proven experience creating and managing content across multiple social platforms.
• Excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills.
• Strong understanding of social media trends and analytics.
• Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience creating video and multimedia content would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Create, edit, and publish engaging content across MFAT's social media and other digital channels.
• Advise teams in Wellington and around the world on social media best practice and audience engagement.
• Support the delivery of digital campaigns and major communications initiatives.
• Help offshore Posts maximise the impact of their social media and digital content.
• Monitor channel performance and use data and insights to improve reach and engagement.
• Lead social media moderation activities and support online community management.
• Provide quality assurance, content testing, and support for digital platform enhancements.
• Build digital capability across the Ministry by training staff.
