Job summary

Mainfreight is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to lead software and digital initiatives across our international network. Based in Auckland, you will partner with software engineers, architects, analysts and business stakeholders to turn ideas into practical solutions that deliver value.

You'll own projects from concept to delivery, balancing people, process, technology and business outcomes, while driving governance and continuous improvement across the project delivery lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience delivering complex software, digital, or technology projects.
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and modern technology delivery practices.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
• Experience managing project budgets, schedules, risks, and resources.
• Ability to work independently while building strong collaborative relationships across global teams.
• Experience in logistics, transport, supply chain, or enterprise environments would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead software development and technology projects from initiation through to successful implementation and adoption.
• Develop and manage project plans, budgets, timelines, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder communications.
• Work closely with software engineers, architects, business analysts, and operational teams to ensure successful delivery outcomes.
• Facilitate workshops, planning sessions, reviews, and project governance meetings.
• Identify and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies while proactively driving resolution.
• Maintain clear communication with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across project delivery, software development practices, and team collaboration.
• Champion a culture of ownership, teamwork, and customer-focused delivery.
