Toitū Te Whenua invites applications for a paid Summer Internship Programme 2026–2027 in Wellington. You will help prepare Aotearoa for emergencies using geospatial tools like ArcGIS Online, satellite imagery and remote sensing data.

The role runs November 2026 to February 2027 and targets a Mātanga Tātai Wāhi Geospatial Specialist (Emergency Management). You will join the Emergency Management team to improve data request tools, research workflows for acquiring and distributing imagery during

Qualifikationen

• Currently studying Geospatial Science, Geography, Environmental Science, or Emergency Management (third year undergraduate or postgraduate).
• Practical experience using GIS software, particularly ArcGIS Online.
• Technical skills including Python, FME or other geospatial data processing tools.
• Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to clearly translate complex technical content for emergency responders
• An interest in user-centred design and creating intuitive solutions for end users.
• Team player who understands the importance of clear communication during stressful situations

Aufgaben

• Upgrade current ArcGIS Online tools to manage emergency imagery data requests
• Improve emergency imagery hub site experience
• Review ArcGIS Online administration and restricted access management
• Review process for publishing imagery into ArcGIS Online, including archiving
