Job summary

Ko te āhua o te tūranga | About the Role:

As General Manager, you’ll lead finance, IT, and communications across He Herenga Kura and its subsidiaries. You’ll flourish under this high-trust role which drives strategy, risk management, and team leadership, grounded in kaupapa Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

As a General Manager, You Will Also

  • Lead the strategic and operations of finance, communications and IT
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, investment analysis and reporting
  • Oversee financial compliance, audits and contract performance
  • Lead a culturally safe and high-performing team across all direct reports
  • Contribute to organisational strategy and risk management at SLT level
  • Ensure Te Tiriti and cultural competence frameworks are embedded throughout
  • Champion technology and communications that empower and connect whānau
Ko wai koe | About You:

You’re a Chartered Accountant With Deep Finance Experience In Aotearoa, Coupled With a Strong Grasp Of Te Ao Māori. You’re Commercially Astute, People-oriented, And Thrive In Values-driven Leadership Environments. It’s Likely You Will Also Have

  • CA qualified with 10+ years’ finance experience, including senior leadership
  • Proven strength in compliance, budgeting, reporting, and investment oversight
  • Skilled in leading teams across finance, IT, and communications
  • Deep understanding of te Tiriti o Waitangi, kaupapa Māori, and housing policy
  • Politically and culturally astute with strong stakeholder networks
  • Te reo Māori me ōna tikanga, or commitment to strengthening cultural capability
