Job summary

Green by Nature in Matamata seeks a hands-on gardener to maintain village gardens, plant, prune, weed, and perform general vegetation control. You’ll operate a walk-behind mower and small tools, follow a structured maintenance programme, and work outdoors in varying weather.

The role requires a full NZ driver’s licence, horticultural qualifications, and a practical, safety-conscious approach. Hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm, with potential variation and opportunities to increase hours

Qualifications

• Hands-on gardening and horticultural experience.
• Ability to interpret and execute detailed garden plans.
• Commitment to safety, reliability and quality in outdoor work.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain beautiful gardens per client expectations.
• Oversee day-to-day operations at designated sites within contracted works.
• Communicate with Operations Manager or client about garden issues.
• Maintain safety, compliance and quality in all gardening activities.

Skills

Full NZ driver’s licence (manual)

Horticulture cert (Level 3/4)

Knowledge of plant species
