Job description

We are a small not for profit based in Manawatū with growth ambitions. Plant to Plate (P2P) provides gardening and cooking programmes for primary schools in the Manawatū. We see huge opportunity to give our future generations the skills and knowledge when it comes to food.

Are you passionate about hands-on education, sustainability, and empowering tamariki to grow their own kai? Plant to Plate Aotearoa is looking for a motivated and community-minded Gardening Coordinator to deliver engaging, practical gardening programmes in primary schools. This is a permanent role, working 10 hours per week.

Our programmes run in schools each week on Wednesdays. You’ll prepare for each session by attending school visits where gardening is required, and lead and support our team of gardening volunteers during the lessons. At the end of each contract, you’ll prepare a clear, concise report for the school, outlining ‘next step’ suggestions to help ensure the ongoing success and sustainability of the work we’ve started together.

You will work 10 hours per week, spread over two or three days—either Monday and Wednesday, or Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Availability on Wednesdays from 8:30am to 2:00pm is essential to deliver the school session.

First and foremost, you’ll need to share our passion and belief in the kaupapa of Plant to Plate Aotearoa. You’ll bring a positive attitude, a can-do approach, and the ability to work independently while contributing to a small, close-knit team. Building strong, respectful relationships is key — with our P2P community of volunteers, schools, funders, staff, and Board members.
