Job summary

Avanti Finance is seeking a qualified lawyer with strong expertise in structured finance, securitisation and capital markets to support funding initiatives across New Zealand and Australia. You will work in the Treasury team, collaborating with banks, investors, trustees, and external counsel to drive strategic funding transactions and optimise funding facilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in structured finance, securitisation, treasury, debt capital markets, corporate finance, banking or institutional funding.
  • Strong understanding of debt facilities, covenants and funding structures.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical capability and commercial judgement.
  • Ability to balance legal, regulatory, risk and commercial considerations.
  • Exceptional written communication for Board, investor and transaction materials.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support optimisation of Avanti's funding facilities and cost of funds.
  • Play a key role in securitisation programmes, warehouse facilities, term-outs and funding transactions.
  • Manage relationships with bank funders, debt investors and funding partners in NZ and Australia.
  • Prepare reporting and communications for investors, trustees, funders and other external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate governance processes, including Board and committee papers.
  • Support facility renewals, extensions and funding negotiations.
  • Provide commercial and legal input into funding structures and initiatives.
  • Analyse funding performance, pricing and utilisation to support decisions.
  • Lead transaction workstreams and coordinate external advisers.
  • Contribute to evaluating new funding structures and capital markets opportunities.
  • Support the wider Treasury team with legal and commercial advice.

About the role

Sitting within our Treasury team and reporting to the Head of Funding, this role combines legal expertise with commercial funding, structured finance and capital markets exposure. You'll play a hands-on role in securitisations, funding transactions and strategic funding initiatives that directly support Avanti's growth across New Zealand and Australia.

This is a unique opportunity for someone with a legal background who enjoys combining technical expertise with commercial thinking. You'll work alongside banks, investors, trustees, rating agencies, external counsel and internal stakeholders to support funding transactions that are critical to Avanti's ongoing success.

What you’ll be doing
  • Supporting the optimisation of Avanti's funding facilities and cost of funds.
