Job summary

Green by Nature is seeking a Trainee Horticulturist to join the Masterton team. You will assist with routine maintenance of plants and gardens across parks and reserves while you learn essential horticultural skills.

As you study, you will develop knowledge of plant cycles, soil science, pest management, and landscape planning. Prior experience is not required; a valid manual transmission licence and a team-oriented attitude are valued.

Qualifications

• Willing to learn and commit to training.
• Hold a current full driving licence with manual transmission ability.
• Able to work in a team and follow instructions.
• Desire to adhere to health and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist with routine maintenance of plants and gardens in parks, reserves and open spaces.
• Learn factors affecting plant cycles and soil science.
• Identify, report, and help control plant pests and diseases.
• Evaluate, prune and train trees and shrubs for optimal growth.
• Prepare and oversee plans for amenity sites.
